Copyright and Fair Use





University of Texas has established great rules of thumb for the uses of copyright work of distance learning, coursepacks, images archives, multimedia works, music, research copies and reserves. Also you can use the four factor fair use test from UT check if you require permission from the author or not.

  1. Hey, that's a library thing! Actually it isn't and I'm glad you posted this. Too many people think that just because something's on the web, it's free but that isn't true. There have been several cases of sites getting in trouble for offering content to users for free without the copyright holder's permission. This video was pretty good about explaining what copyright is and how to get it, especially with video. Thank you!
